Product and Tech Strategy Simplified: What Every Builder and Innovator Should Know
Action wins over planning, hands down. However, we find it incredibly important to have a plan before we get in the trenches. We help companies from high-level innovation strategy to pinpoint product opportunities, to monetization and business model strategy
Were do the opportunities lie? And when it's clear there is an opportunity, how do we go from idea to validated product concept asap? What scenarios can we come up with in terms of solution architecture and are we compliant to industry regulations or company policies? We see strategy work as a necessity, from high level innovation strategy to GTM strategy, but we are all for speed and agility. We don't do months of strategy work, no endless powerpoint presentations, and certainly no unnecessary work. We focus on the sweet spots of strategy work and we don't go beyond the point of diminished returns. Let's take you through our vision on strategy work. Secret: every strategy work we do is combined with us getting in the trenches to gather feedback, validate assumptions, and distill things to viable plans.
The role of strategy in building successful products
We help companies with strategies for digital innovation to crafting scenarios for their product's technical architecture. When we see an opportunity based on emerging technology, we first want to ensure if the opportunity is aligned with the organization's strategy and if not, check if the organization is willing to turn it into a venture project separated from their organization's strategy. If the answers are no, then pursueing the opportunity is meaningless. If the answer is yes, we make sure we don't stick to talking and planning but we prefer to get in the trenches and validate our hypothesis and kill our assumptions asap. The result? A concrete product opportunity with validated demand, feasibility, and viability.
This ethos is basically covering the majority of our strategy work. For GTM strategies we can do months of research, or we define high potential GTM motions and just start testing these as fast as possible. Action produces information and the sooner we know what GTM motion offers us the best results, the sooner we know what to double down on.
For building products, we don't plan months of research to draft the technical architectures and potential technology stacks. We gather all the information regarding the current digital landscape, technologies the product needs to use, and the accessibility needs for the organization. Within a matter of days and sometimes a couple of weeks in case of enterprise integrations, we plot multiple feasible scenarios that support the product's scope, roadmap, and needs/wishes from the organization.
The market moves fast and the last thing we want is scope creep, analysis paralysis, or endless what-ifs, before we have even been in the trenches to produce valuable insights. The opposite is also just as true: getting going without proper intel on feasibility, viability, and desirability, is a recipe for disaster. You might be lucky, but most lucky we're going to face a lot of unnecessary problems. When it comes to strategy work, we believe the best is to get it 'just right' and to get moving.
Practical examples of our strategy work
We don’t get lost in theoretical fluff or spend months in planning mode. Instead, we get laser-focused, make quick decisions, and move with purpose. Here’s how we approach the different aspects of product and tech strategy to keep things practical, actionable, and aligned with real-world execution.
Strategic Roadmap: We break down product visions into phased plans that prioritize quick wins and maintain momentum. Our approach ensures teams have a clear path from idea to launch without getting bogged down in over-planning.
Innovation Strategy: We identify tech trends and product opportunities aligned with company goals, validating ideas quickly through real-world feedback. Our approach is to strategize, prototype, and test—ensuring alignment and feasibility without wasting time.
GTM Strategy: We avoid endless research and instead map out high-potential GTM strategies, rapidly testing them to see what sticks. Action leads to information, allowing us to double down on what works and pivot when needed.
Solution Architecture: We create multiple technical scenarios tailored to a product’s needs within days, not months. Our approach ensures that architecture aligns with the product roadmap, compliance needs, and scalability without the analysis paralysis.
Monetization and Business Model Strategy: We design business models that align with user behavior and market trends, testing them early to validate their effectiveness. We skip the theoretical and go straight to practical models that can be adjusted based on real feedback.
Security and Compliance: Security and compliance are taken into account from the start, and if needed integrated into the development process to prevent future bottlenecks. We focus on being proactive rather than reactive, ensuring smooth sailing during critical launches.
Tech Stack Advisory: We analyze your goals and current landscape to recommend the most effective tech stack. Our tech-agnostic approach prioritizes what works best for your product and organization, making sure you’re set for growth and adaptability.
Fractional CTO: We provide experienced tech leadership on an as-needed basis, focusing on aligning tech strategy with business goals. This approach bridges the gap without the overhead of a full-time hire, keeping teams agile and strategic.
Fundraising: We craft compelling narratives and strategies that showcase your product’s potential and meet investor expectations. Our goal is to leverage our network for initial feedback, refining your case quickly before introducing you to the investors you truly want on board.
Keep it real
When you strip away the noise of over-analysis, fancy frameworks, and endless meetings, what really matters is building something people genuinely want. Strategy is just the compass that points you in the right direction, but action is the journey. It should guide action, not replace it. Whether it's mapping roadmaps, testing GTM strategies, or crafting solution architectures, we keep it lean, practical, and fast. Stay lean, stay focused, and don’t let the quest for a perfect plan slow you down.
